About Ben Halfhide
Ben Halfhide has an impressive background in medicine. He studied Medicine at the University of Suriname from 1980 to 1983 and continued his education in medicine at the University of Groningen between 1983 and 1988 eventually studying Thoracic Surgery at the University of Leiden. Halfhide continued studying Radiology at the Academic Hospital of Rotterdam, now known as the Erasmus University. After his training, he worked in various hospitals in the Netherlands, including the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam and the Groene Hart Hospital in Gouda. In 2009, he opened his own clinic in Paramaribo, where he and his team offer a wide range of radiological services.
The clinic is equipped with modern technologies, including CT scans, MRI scans, and ultrasounds. They perform over 35,000 examinations each year, including breast cancer screenings and oncological interventions.
During our visit, Ben guided us through the clinic and explained the various examinations and techniques performed there. He spoke proudly about his team and the innovative ways they are improving healthcare in Suriname.
