The Rotary Works Initiative

Rotary Works is a new and special vocational initiative created and designed for Rotarians and Rotaractors within Zones 33 & 34 who are experiencing career transition.  This initiative is comprised of three distinct programs that will provide education, networking, and/or financial resources for participants and facilitate mentorship opportunities for personal and professional development.

The Rotary Works Programs

Career Development Professional Series

The first Rotary Works program launched in December 2020 is a Career Development Professional Series offered monthly via Zoom. on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 1:00 pm Eastern time. Each session in the series includes consistent opportunities to collaborate with business professionals in career development, to exchange ideas and to have conversations with experts in various fields. These “mentors” (from both inside and outside of Rotary) will provide information and inspiration for those in attendance seeking self-exploration, self-improvement and ultimately seeking employment or viable entrepreneurial prospects. Monthly topics vary from direct, self-help conversations to hands-on skill development processes and each month professionals will be available to discuss specific topics with attendees.

The program kicked off on 09th December 2020 with an overview of the series, where exactly how “Rotary Works” operates and how it will support our members was outlined and discussed. Additional sessions and topics under this program include the following:

  • January 13th
          - Vocation, Evaluation, and Opportunities

Could you benefit from a career coach? Rotary Works is accepting requests for coaching assistance. Career coaches work with you one-on-one to aide you in your pursuit of a career change, new employment opportunity, or opening a new business. After filling out a short application, you will be contacted by a fellow Rotarian with qualifications best suited to assist you in reaching your goals.

Coaching Volunteers are also needed! So many Rotarians have had the experience of coaching or mentoring individuals over the course of their own careers. The Rotary Works Team asks you to please consider using those talents by becoming a coaching volunteer for the Rotary Works project. Imagine the satisfaction of helping out a fellow Rotarian in their time of need. If you have any interest in joining Rotary Woks in this endeavor as a volunteer coach, please complete the volunteer application and/or contact Steve Agius.

Zone Job Board

The second program – Zone Job Board – will launch in sometime in April/May 2020 and serve as a resource where users will be able to search for employment opportunities, post open positions, request a mentor, become a mentor, and find valuable and relevant career transition resources.

Impact Fund

Finally, the third program establishes an Impact Fund which is designed to assist Rotarians and Rotaractors in Zones 33 and 34 who may have experienced financial stress due to career transition. It provides such individuals an opportunity to apply for a one-time grant of US$500. The grants are offered as emergency assistance for financial obligations which are difficult to meet due to the financial stress of career transition and as such criteria are established so that eligible Rotarians and Rotaractors can to apply for these personal grants that are to serve as a “hand-up” and not a “hand-out”.
