As one of his key initiatives, Rotary International President Shekhar Mehta is prioritizing projects that focus on improving the health, education, well-being, and economic security of girls across the globe. Empowering girls means supporting them to ensure that their basic needs are met while working to transform the structures and institutions that reinforce and perpetuate gender discrimination and inequality.

Following this, Rotary Zones 33/34 proudly presents the 2nd webinar in its Empowering Girls series - Rotary Empowers Girls. Watch this informative webinar which showcases some of the incredible Rotary projects and initiatives from around the world which are Empowering Girls in areas such as health, safety, education and economic development.

Moderated by Rotarian Ana Patel – Rotary International Representative to UN Women, Rotary Peace Fellow, Deputy Ambassador Empowering Girls Task Force Rotary Zones 33-34 – webinar panelists included:
Equality is a fundamental human right that is necessary for a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable world. Still, girls and women worldwide face inequities in areas including health and education, and they experience violence and poverty at higher rates than men.

The goal of this webinar series is to provide inspiration and ideas for club projects, district conference ideas, club presentation ideas and so much more.

As you think about your current service projects and community needs in this coming Rotary year, plan now to elevate our girls in these projects.  Empowering girls aligns with Rotary’s areas of focus and the goals of our Action Plan. Read more here.

For some more background information, read the Global Gender Gap Report to understand more of the data referenced in this webinar.

Many persons always ask how to connect with projects or to share your projects. Rotary Showcase is the central location for all Rotary International Projects. Rotarians may upload projects as guided by How to Add a Project to Rotary Showcase

We can increase our impact through projects that protect, empower, and create equity for girls.
