As one of its signature initiatives this Rotary year, the Rotaract Club of Barbados and its members - the Cranberries - undertakes Super Service Saturdays: a day of service and fellowship each month where members and friends of the Rotaract and Rotary families in Barbados come together to serve communities and help persons in need by executing multiple and varied service activities ranging in scope, focus and scale.

On the morning of Saturday 21st November, the Rotaract Club of Barbados kicked things off bright and early with a Breaking Bread Assist at 6:00 a.m. in Queen’s Park, Bridgetown. The club's Service Soldiers assisted with the distribution of breakfast meals for the homeless population in and around the city.

Moving into the afternoon, the team journeyed to the north of the island for part 2 of Cookies & Canvas from 2 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Farr’s Children’s Home, where the teenagers there were asked to describe themselves as a snack as an ice-breaker and for everyone to get more comfortable. This was followed by freelance painting with an independence theme.

Finally, the club executed their long awaited gardening project, Ready, Set, Grow: Add A Little Spice To Your Life from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Service Soldiers were split into two groups, located at Luther Thorne Memorial Primary School and Gordon Cummins District Hospital. With the planting of seedlings today, the Cranberries have also reaffirmed their commitment to monitor the growth and development of the garden over the next few weeks.

In the end, a great day of fellowship and service was had by all and the club expressed its thanks to all the Team Leads, Partners-In-Service, Cranberries, Rotarians and members from others clubs who supported all its outreach initiatives that day, recognizing that only because of them that this recent Super Service Saturday was a resounding success!
