 | In recognition of Rotary’s July Area of Focus, Maternal and Child Health, the Rotary Club of Georgetown Central, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health’s Adolescent Health Unit and Baby D International, successfully distributed 20 Maternal & Child Health Care Packages to expectant mothers at the Sophia Health Centre on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. |
The initiative was led by members of the Rotary Club of Georgetown Central, representatives from the Ministry of Health, the dedicated staff of the Sophia Health Centre, and members of Baby D International. Together, they worked to support pregnant women by providing essential supplies that promote healthier pregnancies and give newborns the best possible start in life.
Each care package was thoughtfully assembled with practical items to assist mothers throughout their pregnancy and during the early days of their baby’s life. The initiative reflects Rotary’s ongoing commitment to improving maternal and child health by supporting women during one of the most important stages of their lives.
Through this meaningful act of service, the Rotary Club of Georgetown Central aims to ease some of the challenges faced by expectant mothers while encouraging positive health outcomes for both mothers and babies. The project also highlights the importance of collaboration between service organizations, healthcare providers, and community partners in addressing the needs of vulnerable families.
This initiative was made possible through the collective efforts of Rotarians who planned, assembled, and distributed the care packages, alongside the invaluable support of the Ministry of Health, the Sophia Health Centre, and Baby D International. By working together, the partners ensured that the donations reached mothers who would benefit most, exemplifying Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self.”
