On September 3rd, 2016, Stabroek Rotary chartered the Rotaract Club of Stabroek which is an organization of young adults (between the age of 18 and 30) in the Rotary International structure. The club was formed based on increased demands from past and current interactors of Stabroek Rotary’s Interact Club of St. Joseph’s High School which targets students from age 12 -18.

Stabroek’s Rotaract club now ensures full transition within the Rotary structure and the parent club, Rotary Stabroek is now charged with promoting and ensuring inter-generational collaboration through opportunities for volunteerism, mentoring, and education.

At the charter ceremony held at the Pegasus Hotel, Rotary’s District Assistant Governor for Guyana, Luana Falconer opined that the new Rotartact club plays a significant role in helping to increase Rotary’s capacity to improve lives in our communities,  and called on each Rotaractor to do so with high professional standards.

President of the newly chartered Rotaract Club Tofina Felix expressed enthusiasm on behalf of her club for having meet the requirements for the charter, and to commence community initiatives to help Rotary advance humanity.

Anand Harrilall, President of the sponsor club (Rotary Stabroek) challenged Rotaractors to leverage their collective efforts to successfully deliver community service that promotes dignity of the beneficiaries whilst upholding Rotary’s guiding principles.

The Rotaract club of Stabroek has already commenced its community service activities with a back to school project through which approximately 50 school children in the Bagotsville community received school supplies for the new school year.
