On the 21st September 2022 the Rotary Club of San Fernando-South (RCSS) in celebration of the United Nations International Day of Peace and the UN’s call to “End Racism, Build Peace” partnered with (4) Secondary Schools at which the Club sponsors Interact clubs viz: ASJA Boys’ College, San Fernando Central Secondary School, Naparima College and Parvati Girls’ Hindu College to install peace poles at their Schools in commemoration of Peace Day.
Our Interactors are peacebuilders, many of them having recently participated in the Youth and Peace in Action initiative through NewGen Peacebuilders and representatives of each Interact Club delivered opening prayers for Peace at the event.
President of RCSS Mr. Namdeo Boodram in his message to the Interactors reminded them of the different elements in society such as crime, drugs, lack of sufficient work opportunities for young people, corruption, racism, differences such as class and gender violence which lead to a lack of Peace and the need to address these issues. He reminded the Interactors of the importance of the Nation’s watchwords – “Discipline, Production, Tolerance” in building Peace.
School Principals Mr. Faeid Ali, Ms. Cindy Khan, Dr. Sharda Maharaj-Ramjattan and Acting Vice Principal Mrs. Candice Sinanan all spoke at the unveiling ceremonies at their respective Schools endorsing Rotary’s efforts to build Peace and their School’s commitment to peacebuilding.
Assistant Governor for the South Cluster of Clubs Trinidad Mr. Brian Ramatally delivered greetings on behalf of District Governor Leslie Ramdhanny at each event, reminding the Interactors that tomorrow is in their hands.
RCSS was pleased to have present at two of the unveiling ceremonies Vice President of the Rotaract Club of San Fernando-South Ms. Stephanie Amman attend and support the unveilings.
Peace Chair for District 7030 Ms. Debbie Roopchand chaired the respective programmes which all culminated in the unveiling of the Peace Poles to the recitation of the message of “May Peace Prevail on Earth” by the attendees as the poles were unveiled.
The message of "May Peace Prevail On Earth" is engraved on each Peace Pole in the following languages: English, Spanish, French, Dutch, Chinese, Arabic, Hindi, Japanese to reflect the diversity of Trinidad and Tobago.

Le 21 septembre 2022, le Rotary Club de San Fernando-South (RCSS) a célébré la Journée Internationale de la Paix des Nations Unies et l'appel de l'ONU à " Éliminer le Racisme, Construire la Paix " en partenariat avec quatre écoles secondaires dans lesquelles le club parraine des clubs Interact, à savoir : ASJA Boys' College, San Fernando Central Secondary School, Naparima College et Parvati Girls' Hindu College : ASJA Boys' College, San Fernando Central Secondary School, Naparima College et Parvati Girls' Hindu College pour installer des totems de la Paix dans leurs écoles en commémoration de la Journée de la Paix.
Nos Interactiens sont des artisans de la Paix, nombre d'entre eux ayant récemment participé à l'initiative "Jeunesse et Paix en Action" par l'intermédiaire de NewGen Peacebuilders. Des représentants de chaque club Interact ont prononcé des prières d'ouverture pour la Paix lors de l'événement.
Le Président du RCSS, M. Namdeo Boodram, dans son message aux Interactiens, leur a rappelé les différents éléments de la société tels que la criminalité, la drogue, le manque d'opportunités de travail pour les jeunes, la corruption, le racisme, les différences de classe et la violence entre les sexes qui conduisent à un manque de Paix et la nécessité de s'attaquer à ces problèmes. Il a rappelé aux Interactiens l'importance des mots d'ordre de la Nation - "Discipline, Production, Tolérance" dans la construction de la Paix.
Les Directeurs d'école, M. Faeid Ali, Mme Cindy Khan, le Dr Sharda Maharaj-Ramjattan et la Vice-Directrice par intérim, Mme Candice Sinanan, ont tous pris la parole lors des cérémonies d'inauguration dans leurs écoles respectives, approuvant les efforts du Rotary en faveur de la Paix et l'engagement de leur école dans ce domaine.
Le Gouverneur Adjoint du South Cluster of Clubs Trinidad, M. Brian Ramatally, a transmis les salutations du Gouverneur de District Leslie Ramdhanny à chaque événement, rappelant aux Interactiens que demain est entre leurs mains.
Le RCSS a eu le plaisir de voir la Vice-Présidente du club Rotaract de San Fernando-South, Mme Stephanie Amman, assister à deux des cérémonies d'inauguration et les soutenir.
La Présidente de la Commission pour la Paix du District 7030, Mme Debbie Roopchand, a présidé les programmes respectifs qui ont tous culminé avec le dévoilement des totems de la Paix et la récitation du message "May Peace Prevail on Earth" par les participants au moment où ils ont été dévoilés.
