St. Kitts - “Christmas is most truly Christmas when we celebrate it by giving the light of love to those who need it most.” These poignant words by Christian evangelist Ruth Carter Stapleton were personified on Saturday December 19, 2015 by members of the Rotary Club of Liamuiga during their annual Christmas hamper distribution initiative.

The Rotarians packed and distributed over 50 Christmas hampers throughout various communities in St. Kitts. The hampers included canned meats, pastas, canned milk, teas, oatmeal, fresh wheat rolls, bath soaps, wash cloths, laundry detergent and more. Recipients were also given ready-to-eat snack plates. Special thanks to Premier Dental for their annual donation of toothbrushes and toothpastes.

“The initiative is probably our Club’s most heart-warming and rewarding project each year,” said Ms Tuffida Stewart, President of the Rotary Club of Liamuiga. “Beyond the food items and toiletries, sharing smiles and kind words goes a long way in bringing joy and love to those less fortunate in our society."

The Club will close out 2015 with its major fundraiser, its Annual New Year’s Charity Ball on December 31, 2015 at Carambola Beach Club from 11:30 p.m. Tickets are available from Plush Accessories (Cayon St), MoJo Frozen Novelties (Caribbean Cinemas Complex), Scantlebury (upstairs Lucky's Cosmetics), Warner’s One Stop, Carambola Beach Club and members of the Rotary Club of Liamuiga. Proceeds for the charity ball will go toward funding the Club’s youth and community development projects in 2016.
