Basseterre, St. Kitts – Christmas came a bit early for the staff and tenants of the Saddlers Home for the Elderly with a donation from the Rotary Club of Liamuiga. At a brief handing-over ceremony on Saturday November 14, 2015, the Club donated a Whirlpool washer, Whirlpool stove, a transformer and a voltage protector to the Saddlers Home for the Elderly.

“During our annual luncheon at the Home this year [September 16], we saw that the stove and washer were on their ‘last legs’ and so we decided to rectify that situation,” said Tuffida Stewart, President of the Rotary Club of Liamuiga. “Our Club prides itself on serving our communities but particularly serving our youth, elderly and the most vulnerable among us.”

Deputy Director at the Department of Social Services, Mrs. Ann Wigley accepted the appliances on behalf of the Home and thanked the Club for its timely and much-needed donation, as the Home’s washer and stove were in utter disrepair.

The Club’s upcoming projects will include refitting of the Beach Allen Primary School Computer Lab with new computers and a server, its annual Christmas Hamper Distribution to the less fortunate throughout the island of St. Kitts and the hosting of the Club’s major fundraiser, its Annual New Year’s Charity Ball at the Carambola Beach Club on December 31st.
