During October 2020, as part of its health and wellness drive, the Rotary Club of Georgetown Central (RCGC)  donated a variety of exercising equipment for use in the National Park in Georgetown, Guyana. The donation was made during the prevailing pandemic – a time when numerous gyms across Guyana were ordered closed.

At the handing over ceremony, Service Committee Chair, Keisha Chung, stated that the donation of the equipment to the National Park Commission is timely and very necessary, as those who frequent the park to engage in physical exercises could and would utilize them.

The Service Chair added that the project falls within Rotary's Area of Focus of Fighting Disease and it resonates with RCGC's efforts to promote healthy lifestyles.

The Club, through its Service Committee and other club members arranged the fabrication, painting and installation of the equipment.

RCGC received commendations from the National Park Commission and users of the national park.

With the continued support of sponsors, RCGC intends to donate more of the exercising equipment to the National Park and other public spaces across the country.
