St. John’s Antigua, May 12, 2017 – Rotary Club of Antigua Sundown recently hosted its 9th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at the Cedar Valley Golf Club and raised over $20,000.

“I am pleased we have made it this far, as there are many tournaments, both local and overseas, to compete with and we are grateful to the golfers for their continued support of ours“, said Corina Edwards-Sealy Assistant Governor of the Rotary Clubs in Antigua, member of the Rotary Club of Antigua Sundown and coordinator of the fundraiser.

“Next year we will be celebrating our tenth anniversary and we can’t wait. This charity event has been the main source of funding for many of our projects and it could not have been done without our sponsors – hole, team and gift in kind - many of whom have been supporting this event since our inception. A big thank you to all of them and our volunteers! Thanks to the generosity of the many people who make this event a success, our club is able to make a significant difference through funding various community projects.”

Continued Corina: “It’s such an honor for our club to host members of the community, including our National Hero, Sir Vivian Richards, local sports celebrities and supporters of Rotary. We are also fortunate to work along with a very organized and committed tournament committee and General Manager, Daniel Cadet and his team at Cedar Valley Golf Club.”

For the second time the event featured two sponsored youth teams who both won prizes; aligning nicely with Rotary International’s avenue of service – New Generations.

“The golf tournament is one of our largest fundraisers of the year”, said Herald Rolland RCAS President. “We’re thrilled with the support we received from local businesses whose generous contributions are essential to our work in the community.”
