To kick-off the 2023-2024 Rotary year, the District 7030 Empowering Girls Team is now proud to announce a new and valuable opportunity via the Spotlight initiative to build and enhance institutional and organizational capacity among Rotary and Rotaract clubs and members across our region...

Originally geared towards stakeholders within Grenada and Guyana, the Regional Cohort of the 2023 Spotlight Civil Society Organization Capacity Building Programme (CCBP), has now opened up to Rotary and Rotaract clubs from around District 7030 thanks to the efforts of our Empowering Girls Team. Along with other Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Rotary and Rotaract clubs have been identified as community-service based groups within UN Spotlight countries that would benefit from participation in the CCBP and, therefore, have been extended the offer to fully participate in this robust and result-oriented, four-month programme.

As part of the Spotlight initiative, the goal of the CCBP is to strengthen CSOs in the Caribbean so that they can begin and/or continue efforts to end GBV/VAWG in communities. Therefore, the CCBP not only presents a great opportunity for Rotary and Rotaract clubs in District 7030 to strengthen themselves in terms of governance, management and administration, leadership and succession planning, funding and sustainability, but also, allows clubs to get involved with efforts to end GBV/VAWG in their respective communities and consequently activities to Empower Girls Now. Additionally, the CCBP provides participating individuals with a chance to build and enhance their own knowledge and skill-sets in a variety of subjects that can be successfully applied beyond Rotary.

THE PROGRAMME

  • The goal of the CCBP is to build, enhance and reinforce organizational capacities through a series of modules delivered via FREE virtual workshops, clinics and an interactive video course covering a wide range of subjects and best practices relevant to any and all CSOs in the Caribbean, including:
    • Leadership & Advocacy
    • Strategic Communications
    • Board Recruitment, Onboarding, Development and Management
    • Volunteer Recruitment, Onboarding, Development and Management
    • Core/Foundational Resource Mobilisation
    • Successful Fundraising & Alternative Funding
    • Strategic Planning for Caribbean CSOs
    • Project Identification, Development and Proposal Writing
    • Project Cycle Management for Maximum Impact
    • Metrics for Success: Monitoring & Evaluation Essentials
  • Workshops will introduce the topic areas, explore and build upon participants’ knowledge and skills in the respective modules. Clinics are hands-on, interactive, and practical sessions for applying skills learnt to produce a viable deliverable for an organisation. A self-directed video course allows participants to take a deep dive into the subject matter, providing clear definitions, detailed examples, a step by step guide and practical tips for application of the best practices covered.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Participating CSOs must demonstrate their engagement in and/or commitment to current or future efforts that seek to end GBV/VAWG through activities, projects, programmes or partnerships centered on education and awareness, prevention or intervention
  • The CCBP runs for 15 weeks where representatives of participating CSOs are prepared to commit to attend programme workshop and clinic sessions
  • Participants are required to actively engage in the discussions and session activities, turning and keeping cameras on for the duration of the session. The highly interactive nature of the sessions does not allow for passive listening as though attending a lecture series; these are hands-on, high participation sessions that require participants' full attention and willingness to share, ask questions and contribute to driving/enhancing the discussion and knowledge-sharing experience.
  • Two (2) appropriate representatives from a participating CSO (i.e. Rotary/Rotaract club) are expected to attend every session where a participating CSO can have EITHER the same two (2) representatives attend all sessions of the CCBP covering all modules OR two (2) different representatives can attend respective sessions for each module - for example, if John and Mary from your club attend the Board Development workshop sessions, they are expected/required to also attend the Board Development clinic sessions; however, Tom and Harry from your club, can alternatively attend the Strategic Planning workshop and clinic - this way, there is some degree of flexibility in attendance among your club's possible representatives where no sole two persons are the only ones that have to attend all sessions if their schedules do not permit, and, where several other appropriate persons in your club can benefit from the programme.
  • Certificates will be given to participants and participating CSOs only upon meeting the minimum attendance and participation requirements for successful completion of the programme
