Castries, St. Lucia — On Friday January 20, 2017,  the Interact Club at Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC) was officially chartered and the charter members received their pins from their sponsor - the Rotary Club of St. Lucia. With 85 members strong, this, the 5th Interact Club sponsored by the RC Saint Lucia, is also the largest.

Many of the charter members of the SALCC Club were Interactors in their respective secondary schools, including: St. Joseph's Convent, St. Mary's College, Sir Ira Simmons Secondary, Castries Comprehensive Secondary School. Many also were alumni of the Interact Club at Babonneau Secondary School which is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Gros Islet.

With the knowledge these members bring from their “first” Interact experience, it creates a very vibrant new club and provide much energy and encouragement to the membership. To ensure sustainability the SALCC Club has already inducted enough young leaders from lower classes to take over the leadership of the club in the next Rotary year.

RC Saint Lucia President Selma St Prix, Club Director Ginelle Nelson, Club Past Presidents Robert “Bobby” Frederick and Rudolph “Doddy” Francis, as well as,  AG Konrad Wagner attended and contributed to the official charter ceremony. Also present at the ceremony were Dean Dr. King  and Principal Mrs. Plummer.
